Too many coaches look at your actions and beliefs and that value, but in my view, it is limited. We are a product of something much deeper than our beliefs. The guiding principle that I use is based on Systemic Thinking. How an entire ecosystem causes companies and individuals to create their identities and eventually the results they experience.
Almost everyone understands that concept of climate change and how something macro (climate) affects the micro (sea levels, flora, fauna, human survival) etc. Similarly, in business and life the same rules apply. However, often those macro forces are invisible and we often end up labelling them as ‘luck’ or ‘mindset’ or ‘beliefs’.
I work at the level that actually creates the mindset, beliefs and identity and business. In short, when we change something at that level, you experience success as a natural part of your growth rather than something to ‘aspire’ to. This is what we call, rapport with ourselves. My clients still tell me, “Mihir, I’m not sure what you did, but this really works. If you’d have told me I’d be here 6 months ago I’d have never believed you. Thank you!”
The saying that makes me chuckle every time is, “In a family of thieves, the one who doesn’t steal feels guilty.” Such is the power of our environment that we’ve been born into or are working in. You might ask, how is that applicable to business?
Far too often, I’ve seen across executive and teams that they bring all of their identities and beliefs to the game and there is no escaping from the influences that are working behind the scenes in their daily interactions.
We are very complex beings and unless we address the ‘system’ that has created us, we will never be at alignment with ourselves. When we address the system, then we don’t need to rush to every other self help seminar out there for a ‘hit’ of dopamine and then have your Monday morning crash.
So in short, my approach is focussed on respectfully keeping what is working for you while letting go of what is not of service anymore without making yourself wrong about it.
